Shayne Lotito

Head coach Shayne Lotito enters her fourth season at the helm of the Bryant University softball program in 2016-17.

In 2016, after a rough start, the Bulldogs bounced back to go 9-7 in conference play, stringing together five-straight wins to earn the No. 4 seed in the NEC Tournament. After splitting games in the regular season, the Bulldogs fell to No. 1 LIU Brooklyn, 4-3, before being eliminated by No. 3 Robert Morris, 3-1, in postseason play.

In 2015, the Bulldogs struggled to recapture the success they had in 2014, finishing 17-32 overall. Sophomore Taylor Burger put together a breakout season earning the Northeast Conference Most Improved Player Award and was the lone Bryant representative on the All-NEC First Team. Perhaps the highlight of the year came during the opening weekend when the Black and Gold set a NCAA record for most home runs in a single inning (7) and tied the NCAA mark for homers in a single game (10) in a 19-6 win over Maryland ES on Feb. 21.

During her first year in Smithfield, 2014 NEC Coach of the Year Shayne Lotito guided the Bulldogs to their best season at the Division I level, posting a 32-22 overall record en route to the program’s first-ever NEC Regular Season Championship, NEC Tournament Title, and DI NCAA Tournament berth. Led by NEC Player of the Year Elle Madsen, six Bulldogs earned All-NEC honors in 2014, including five first teamers.

A 2009 graduate of Boston University, Lotito was a four year standout member of the Terriers’ softball team where she finished fourth all time in career batting average (.334) and first in career stolen bases (95). She finished her senior season with a career best .359 average in 57 games for the Terriers and was named to the Louisville Slugger / NFCA All-Northeast Region First Team in 2009. She garnered America East Conference First Team honors in 2006 and 2008.

At Boston College, Lotito assisted with all phases of the softball program including recruiting, practice planning and preparation, strength and conditioning, hitting instruction and base running, and various camps and clinics.

Prior to arriving at Boston College, Lotito was a strength and conditioning graduate assistant coach at Boston University where she served as the head strength coach for the women’s novice crew, men’s freshman crew, field hockey, and men’s & women’s tennis team. In 2010, she served as assistant softball coach and head strength and conditioning coach at Babson College.

A native of Acton, California and Vasquez High School graduate, Lotito earned her Masters of Education from Boston University in 2012.

Aubrey Mable

Aubrey Mable, a Denver, Colorado native, enters her second year as Assistant Coach of the Bryant University softball team in 2016-17. Mable was a four-year member of the Bulldogs’ softball team, earning All-NEC First Team for three-straight years and Bryant University’s NCAA Woman of the Year as a senior. She graduated from Bryant University in 2014 after earning a degree in Communications.

The senior captain posted an impressive career for the Black and Gold, graduating as a four time Academic All-American, NCAA Senior CLASS award nominee (2014) and received a spot on the NEC All-Tournament team in her last season.

Mable enjoyed one of the best careers in program history, graduating as the all-time leader in RBI (125), runs scored (141), doubles (56), total bases (363) and slugging percentage (.671).

As a freshman, the shortstop led the team and NEC with a .419 average, earning the fourth-best single-season mark in program history.

Mable returns to the Smithfield after a one-year stint at Providence College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Friars’ softball team. Her duties included the responsibility of skill development of the outfield and hitters, as well as coaching First Team All-Big EAST selection Nicole Lundstrom. Off the field, Mable’s job included organizing and scheduling practices, coordinating travel arrangements, recruiting and alumni/fundraising initiatives.

For the Bulldogs, Mable will assist head coach Shayne Lotito in all program duties, including player development, fundraising, and recruiting.
