Jason Bryant

Tony Duckworth, Director of Athletics, has announced Jason Bryant as the next head coach of the Albany State University softball program. Jason Bryant comes to Albany State University after head coaching stints at Fort Valley State University and Brewton Parker College. As a head coach, Jason has won over 400 softball games. Jason has also been named the coach of the year 4 times. “We are excited Coach Bryant will be leading Golden Rams Softball. His college coaching success in Georgia, and experience in the SIAC make him the perfect fit to move our program forward,” Duckworth said.

Jason has spent the past four years as the head coach for the Fort Valley State University softball program. Jason inherited a Wildcats softball program that was 6-57 the two seasons prior to his arrival. In four seasons, Jason’s Fort Valley State University teams won a total of 52 games. During his first season in 2018, the Wildcats won 16 games. In 2019, Jason guided the Wildcats to 18 wins. That was the Wildcats most victories since the 2011 softball season. It was also the Wildcats first SIAC Championship Tournament appearance in five years. In 2020, the team won 6 games while losing 4. In 2021, the team won 12 out of 19 games. In his first three years at FVSU, Bryant also served as the women’s volleyball head coach.

Jason was the head coach at Brewton Parker College for 13 years. During that timeframe, Jason guided his softball teams to 370 wins. Ironically, Jason’s 300th win as a head coach came against Fort Valley State University on March 4, 2013.

“I am honored to be the next Softball coach at Albany State. Albany State has a great tradition and I want to be a coach that adds to a long list of success. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity! The players can expect passion! I love the game. They can expect to succeed if they are willing to work at their craft,” Bryant said.

Jason is a native of Anniston, Alabama. Jason and his wife Jill have two sons (Jordon and Jevon), one daughter (Haydon) and two granddaughters.

I have had a profile on SINC Soccer for 4 years, and it helped me to organize my information so that I was ready when the recruiting process started. I had selected some schools using your site when I was 13 and that helped to start the conversation with those schools and find out about their ID camps, and when UNC made an offer I was prepared.
