Daniel Stockdale

Stockdale was appointed as the Hornets’ head softball coach in August 2021.

In more than seven years of college coaching, Stockdale has contributed to two conference regular season championships, one conference tournament title and NCAA regional appearance. In addition, he’s guided two ABCA/Rawlings All-America and one NFCA Softball All-America honorees.

Stockdale, 37, most recently served on the collegiate level as an Assistant Softball Coach at Georgia State University in Atlanta from 2017 to 2020, working primarily with the pitching staff during his tenure with the Panthers.

While at Georgia State, Stockdale was an integral part of team’s late-season run to claim the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. He began working with the Panther pitching staff at midseason in 2018 and helped lower the team's ERA by more than a run to 3.11 in the final 25 games of the campaign. Junior pitcher Mandy Chance went 9-3 with a 2.64 ERA during that 25-game stretch.

Prior to GSU, Stockdale served as an assistant softball coach for The University of Memphis in 2016 and ‘17. While at Memphis, Stockdale worked primarily with catchers and infielders, and assisted with the development of hitters. In 2017, the Tigers posted the second-most wins in program history with 29. Memphis also won its first-ever American Athletic Conference post-season tournament game during his tenure. Also during the 2017 season, Memphis achieved a host of team and individual accomplishments, including one all-region selection, highest team GPA in program history, most stolen bases in program history, and all-time single-season hits record.

Prior to arriving in Memphis, Stockdale served as head baseball coach at NCAA Division II Albany State, in the SIAC. During his time in Albany, Ga., the Golden Rams went a combined 32-12 in conference play, winning the 2015 SIAC Championship and the 2016 SIAC Regular Season title. ASU advanced to the 2015 NCAA DII South Regional Baseball Tournament in Meridian, Miss., for just the second time in school history. At Albany State, Stockdale's leadership produced one ABCA/Rawlings All-America, two All-South Region members, and seven all-conference team members. The 2015 team was also ranked fourth overall in the NCAA for stolen bases.

Prior to Albany State, Stockdale served as an assistant baseball coach for NCAA Division I Savannah State. While at SSU, Stockdale worked directly with catchers and assisted with the development of all hitters. That team produced one ABCA/Rawlings All-America, and two all-conference players.

Stockdale has served as Head Softball Coach at Grady High School (2020), and Pinecrest Academy (2012-2014), in Atlanta, GA. He also has served as assistant softball coach at Agnes Scott College.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Stockdale holds an M.A.T in Special Education from Augusta State University (2010), and a B.S. in Sports Administration from Reinhardt University (2006).
