Gina De Aguero

Head Coach Gina De Aguero is entering her 7th season as the Lady Sharks Coach. In 2016-17, MDC advanced to the FCSAA State Tournament for the 6th consecutive year. Coach De Aguero takes pride in building a respectable softball program and in developing players into both scholars and athletes. She believes the challenges her players face on the softball field will equip them with the tools to adapt and conquer anything in life.


During Coach De Aguero’s tenure, 107 student-athletes have been acknowledged in the classroom by receiving Academic Honors and 56 student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding work on the softball field by receiving Athletic Honors. The Lady Sharks were Southern Conference Champions in 2013-2014-2015, and placed 5th in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2015. Coach De Aguero was named Southern Conference “Coach of the Year” in 2013 and 2015.


De Aguero received her Associate in Arts Degree in Education from Miami Dade College, then proceeded her education at St. Thomas University where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Social Studies in Secondary Education.

Amber Plaza

Coach Plaza enters her first year as an assistant coach for Miami Dade College Softball. Amber joins Head Coach Gina De Aguero's coaching staff with 3 years of experience as a coach. In addition to MDC, Coach Plaza coached the Panthers Fastpitch travel ball 16 & 14 and Under tavel team and has since 2017.


As a player, Coach Plaza played for Florida Gulf Coast University (2015-17) and under Head coach Gina here at Miami Dade College (2013-15). During her time as an Eagle, Plaza won the ASUN Conference, made the Dean's List, Presidents List and graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honors. In addition, as a Shark Plaza was named 1st team All Conference, won Southern Conference two years back to back, State tournament runner up and placed 5th in the nation at the National Tournament.


Amber currently resides in Miami, FL.
