Courtney Miller

Courtney Miller is entering her 26th season as the Raider’s head coach, after starting the fastpitch program in 1995. The 2020 season should be a one to remember, as the team will set its sights on a major goal. Seminole State softball is currently only 3 wins shy of the 1000th win in program history, with Miller being at the helm for all of those.


She has an overall college coaching record of 1,065-607-4, earning her 1000th collegiate win on March 17th, 2018. She guided the Raiders to a FCSAA State title in 2012 and a Mid-Florida Conference title in 2017. She was named the FSCAA Coach of the year in 2012 and the MFC Coach of the Year in 2017. Her 2017 team set a new school record with 53 wins, breaking the previous record of 51 set in 2015.


Under Miller, the Raiders have made 17 consecutive FCSAA State Tournament appearances.


The Raiders have received 14 NJCAA All-American awards under Miller, while 27 have earned NJCAA Academic All-American awards. Seminole players have claimed 7 FCSAA Player of the Year awards and 10 Player/Pitcher of the Year awards in the Mid-Florida Conference.


During Miller’s tenure, 56 players have earned All-State honors, including 29 1st team nods. 76 players have claimed 1st team all-conference awards and 52 have been named to the second team.


48 players have been named to the 1st or 2nd team of the NFCA South region, and 19 were named NFCA All-Americans.


She has coached 2 Jean Williams Award winners, 4 Mid-Florida Conference Female Athletes of the Year, 1 Female FCSAA Player of the Year, 2 Mid-Florida Scholar Athletes of the Year, 1 FCSAA Scholar Athlete of the Year, and her 2012 team was named the MFC and FCSAA Academic Team of the Year.


Seminole State softball has consistently been ranked in both the State and National polls throughout the years, including a high of 4th in the 2018 poll.


Finally, her teams have shined off the field academically. 249 players have been named to the MFC Academic team and 157 earned Academic All-State. 44 players have been named NJCAA Academic All-Americans, and 110 have earned NFCA Academic All-American. Her teams have been ranked in the top 20 academically in the NFCA and NJCAA the past 8 years.


Miller served as the Mid Florida Conference Softball Chair for 22 years, and also served as the NJCAA All-American representative for 3 different terms.


Before joining the Raiders, Miller started her coaching career at St. Cloud University in St. Cloud, Minn., from 1992-1994. She guided the Huskies to the 1992 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament and Top 10 ranking in the final NCAA Division II softball poll. Miller is a native of Jasper, Mo., and a graduate of Missouri State University, where she played softball for two seasons.


Miller is well versed in community college athletic program administration, having earned her A.A. degree from Crowder Junior College in Neosho, Mo., where she played basketball and softball. The softball team finished second and fourth in the nation, respectively, during the two years she was there.


In addition to her role as head coach, Miller is a professor at the college, teaching courses in Wellness and Health. She also serves as the athletic academic adviser for all student-athletes at Seminole State.

Jack Bitzer

Assistant Coach Jack Bitzer is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, the Pittsburgh, Pa., native joined General Electric with the Major Appliance Business Group in Louisville, Ky., and later moved to Syracuse, N.Y. with GE's radar and sonar business. In 1988, Bitzer and his family moved to Orlando with Emerson Electric's electronic business. He subsequently joined Sawtek Inc. as a vice president of operations.


Bitzer's fastpitch coaching experience began in 1996 with the Seminole Softball Club, a 300 plus member organization for girls ages 4-18 who want to participate in year-round fastpitch. After attending several Higher Grounds clinics and JoAnne Graf's catching clinic, Bitzer began conducting hitting, catching and coaching clinics for the Club.


Bitzer also has coached tournament teams and recreation teams for players ages 10 through high school for several years. Bitzer's tournament teams won the AAA Sports Nationals and NSA Winter Nationals in 2004 and 2005. Also in 2005, his 16 and under team won the NSA "A" States and placed third in the NSA "A" World Series. In 2008, he concluded his tournament team coaching career by winning the NSA “A” 18U World Series with an overall tournament team coaching record of 406-135-15.


Jack joined the Seminole State team in 2001 and has primary duties working with outfielders and catchers.

Bill Fields

Pitching Coach Bill Fields has been with the Raiders for more than a decade, bringing superior knowledge of the mechanics of the game, patience for developing players and a commendable work ethic to the Seminole State College Softball Program.


Fields' coaching experience includes women's softball and volleyball at the high school level in Miami. As an assistant head softball coach at Miami Sunset from 1986-95, Fields worked with the pitchers, hitters and outfielders. During that time, Sunset won four district championships and was the Class 5A state runner-up.


From 1989-97, Fields served as the JV head coach and varsity assistant coach for the highly successful Sunset volleyball team. During his tenure, Sunset won two volleyball state championships and made four appearances in the final four.


Fields also has served as vice president of the South Florida Volleyball Club and has experience coaching 14 and under teams. He currently resides in Deltona.

Abbie Millete

Abbie Millete was hired in May of 2022 as an assistant coach for Seminole State Softball. She brings knowledge and experience from 3 different levels of college softball and is a certified pitching coach through High Performance Pitching.


Millete began her coaching career in 2017 as a graduate assistant coach at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. After completing her MBA in 2018 she began coaching at Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Fl. Her time with the Eagles was spent working in all areas of the game, with a primary focus on pitchers, catchers, and hitters. While at TCC she coached 23 NJCAA All-Academic members, 32 FCSAA All-Academic members, and 40 Panhandle All-Academic members, along with 10 All-Panhandle Conference members, including a Conference Player of the Year and an NJCAA Pitcher of the Week.


Abbie is a former softball player and magma cum laude graduate of Seminole State where she earned Second Team All-Mid-Florida Conference selection as a freshman in 2014 and a First Team All-Conference and All-State honors as a sophomore in 2015. Following her time at SSC she continued her academic and playing career at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC, where she earned 2017 ASUN Second Team All-Conference, 2017 ASUN All-Academic Team, and 2016 ASUN All-Tournament Team playing honors and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.


Millete then earned her Master’s in Business Administration at Piedmont University, formally known as Piedmont College.


Millete’s playing career began at Mandarin high school where she had a standout prep career. She earned a two-time 8A All-State selection, along with First Team All-First Coast and All-Conference honors twice. She helped lead Mandarin to the state semifinals as a junior in 2012, regional finals in 2013 and 6A regional finals in 2011, along with three Gateway Conference Championships. A standout in the classroom she was member of the National Honor Society, senior class historian and received her AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) Diploma.
