Kayla Lucas

Kayla Lucas begins her first season as the head coach of the Young Harris College softball program.


The 2014 National Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year comes to the Enchanted Valley after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Peach Belt Conference-foe Georgia College.


During her stay in Milledgeville, the Bobcats posted a 143-68 mark and were ranked as high as No. 6 in the NFCA national rankings. Lucas helped the Bobcats qualify for the NCAA Division II national tournament the past three seasons, including the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional No. 2 title and a berth in the institution’s first NCAA Super Regional.


As well as doing position work and working with hitters, Lucas served as the team’s speed and agility coach. In just four years, the Bobcats racked up 442 stolen bases and led the Peach Belt in stolen bases three times.


Lucas played college softball all four years, while receiving NAIA, NCCAA, and NFCA All-American honors in 2010 and 2011. She led Central Baptist College to the NCCAA National Championship in 2010 and was named to the all-region and all-tournament teams in 2010 and 2011 as well.


The Marion, Arkansas, native received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Baptist after spending her first two years at Henderson State University. She earned her master’s degree in exercise science from Georgia College.

Kasey Britt

Kasey Britt begins her first season as the assistant coach for the softball program at Young Harris College.


Britt comes to Young Harris after spending the past two seasons on the coaching staff at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. During her stay, the Blazers won 75 games on the diamond, including 44 in 2014 as Belhaven earned a trip to the NAIA National Softball Tournament.


Britt spent five years at the University of Central Arkansas where she played softball four years and helped the team as a student assistant during her fifth year. During her softball career at UCA, she was selected twice to the All-Southland Conference team and twice to the NFCA Division I All-South Region Team. While splitting time between first base and outfield at UCA, she is ranked in the top five in career records, including home runs, RBI, doubles, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and walks. She also ranks in the top five in seven single-season categories.


A native of Richland, Mississippi, Kasey graduated from Richland High School where she was a three-time All-State Softball Team selection and played in the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Fast Pitch game.


While at UCA, Kasey received a bachelor’s degree in health education. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration from Belhaven.
