Coach Steve O’Steen was named CVCC’s head softball coach in 2000. This season will be his sixteenth with the College. O’Steen is a lifelong resident of Phenix City and has been associated with CVCC since 1977. He takes great pride in serving CVCC and the Chattahoochee Valley area.
O’Steen is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association and has completed seven of the eight courses offered by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ College.
In 14 seasons, O’Steen has taken the Pirates to the NJCAA Region XXII tournament 10 times, to include an appearance again in 2015. His CVCC softball coaching record is 271-456-1.
O’Steen has coached four NJCAA Academic All-American teams and has coached 15 NJCAA Academic All-American players.
The Pirate’s strength is predictable offensive power. O’Steen has had success with his players in the weight room and with hitting the ball long and hard. He has coached two NJCAA Region XXII homerun leaders and one NJCAA Region XXII batting leader.
Coach Keith Livingston
Coach Keith Livingston was named CVCC’s assistant softball coach in September 2012. He is a lifelong resident of the Chattahoochee Valley area and has been associated with CVCC softball since 2006. Livingston’s daughter, Kendall, was recruited and played softball at CVCC from 2006-2008. During this time, he volunteered and became CVCC’s softball statistician. In 2008, Livingston began to volunteer his time as an assistant softball coach at CVCC and continued in that position until his appointment in September 2012 as the new assistant softball coach.
Livingston graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia. He worked at Southern Phenix Textile Mill from 1975 until retirement in 2006. Livingston and his family are members of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He is very active in his community and brings a very positive hardworking attitude to the CVCC softball program.
Livingston is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. He has completed courses provided by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches College and has attended training at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Convention. Livingston has coached girls’ softball in some manner since 2000.
