Contact coaches

After you've identified which schools you may be interested in, it's time to contact those coaches. You'll want to introduce yourself and let them know that you're interested in their program so they can make an effort to watch you play at your upcoming showcase.

Figuring out what to say to a coach can be a little scary, but we'll offer some information and tips on what to say.

Send your schedule

Once your schedule is posted, this is a great time to send a second note out to the coaches. Let the coach know all the games you will be playing in, and let them know which game you would love for them to see. You should include your team colors, jersey number, and position.

Review the attending coach list again to make sure that you contacted every school you are interested in.

What time is it? Game time, WOO!

You are playing in a showcase event - this is your opportunity to give it your all and be seen by college coaches. You never know when a coach is watching your game. They may watch for 10 minutes or the entire game. They may be watching to see the goalie on the other team, but you may catch their eye, so play hard, play as a team, play with integrity, and never give up.

Follow up with coaches

During the event, you may not have the opportunity to connect with the coach. It is important to send a follow up email and thank them for attending the event. Let them know your upcoming schedule where they can see you play. Include your Printable Profile with your message, which includes your Future Plans!

Find the right college for you

This step is so important and should not be over-looked. Getting recruited to play a sport you love is incredible! However, being at a school that you hate is NOT. Be honest with yourself and really think about how you want to spend the next 4 years.

  • Do you want to stay close to home?
  • Do you want a school that is going to challenge you academically?
  • What can you afford?
  • Do you want to immediately make an impact on the team, or play with the best and earn your spot in a couple of years?

We give you the tools to search through all schools so you can find the ones that fit you best.

Searching for the right college

Communicate, Communicate, COMMUNICATE!

When people think of recruiting, they think of college coaches finding a player, reaching out, and then offering a scholarship. This is the reality for the top 0.15% of high school athletes that are going to get to choose which school gives them a full ride. For the rest of us, we need to reach out to the coaches and let them know that we're interested. College coaches only have so much time to fill their roster so they focus on the players that want to join their program.
