Ally Hattermann

Ally Hattermann has been at the helm of Gordon State College softball since 1999. During her tenure, she has amassed over 500 wins and her Highlanders have been the GCAA Regular Season Champions, GCAA Tournament Champions, NJCAA Region XVII Champions, NJCAA District M Champions, and have finished as high as ninth in the country at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in St. George, Utah. Additionally, forty-seven of her Highlanders have earned NJCAA All Region XVII honors, eight of which went on to earn NFCA All-South region honors. Success has also followed her student-athletes on the academic side where her Highlanders have been continuously named to the NJCAA and NFCA All-Academic Teams. Twenty-six of her players have earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors, while another fifty-three have been named NFCA Academic All American Scholar Athletes. Since the induction of the GCAA All-Academic Teams in 2017, nine softball Highlanders have earned this honor.

Hattermann began her collegiate playing career as a standout shortstop at Eureka College, in Eureka, IL. She provided a solid force to the Red Devil softball program as she was named to the All Northern Illinois and Iowa Conference (NCAA) and NAIA Great Lakes All Section First Team as a shortstop as well as the All Northern Illinois and Iowa Academic All-Conference Team. She was also a finalist for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award in 1997.

She was inducted to the Eureka College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 as an individual for both softball and tennis. Quite impressively, she still ranks in the all time top 10 in nearly every offensive statistical category for softball. She was again inducted into the Eureka College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004 as a member of the 1996 championship softball team.

After graduating Cum Laude and receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training, Hattermann pursued her Master of Science degrees in Exercise Science and Biomechanics at The University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, she served as a graduate instructor in the HPER program and as a volunteer assistant softball coach for the Ole Miss Lady Rebels softball team. She also passed the NATABOC exam to practice as a certified athletic trainer (ATC).

In addition to her coaching duties at Gordon State College, Hattermann is a full-time Associate Professor of Physical Education and serves as the Region Softball Chair for the GCAA Conference. A native of Dunlap, IL, Hattermann and her husband Doug reside in McDonough, GA with their daughter Marlee.
