Leigh Streetman

Leigh Streetman is entering her second season as the head coach of Mississippi College softball after making history in her debut campaign in 2025. Streetman became the first MC head coach at the NCAA Division II level to win 30 games in their first season, finishing with a 36-19 overall record and leading the Choctaws to their second consecutive NCAA South Region Tournament appearance as the No. 7 seed.

Taking over a young roster, Streetman guided a group that featured eight freshmen who started or played in key roles, including GSC Co-Freshman of the Year Blakely Gill, who also earned First Team All-GSC, NFCA First Team All-South Region, and D2CCA Second Team All-South Region honors. Under Streetman’s leadership, the Choctaws earned multiple postseason accolades, including:

Shelby Samples – First Team All-GSC, NFCA Second Team All-South Region

Madelyn England – First Team All-GSC, NFCA First Team All-South Region, D2CCA First Team All-South Region

Camryn Bailey – Second Team All-GSC, posted a 14-7 record with a 2.19 ERA in the circle

Streetman’s 2025 squad showed grit and growth throughout the season, posting an impressive 5-0 start and sweeping top GSC contenders in key series. The Choctaws also went 17-6 at home and finished with one of the top team batting averages and ERA rankings in the conference.

Streetman was no stranger to success at Mississippi College before taking the reins. She joined the Choctaw staff in 2017 as an assistant coach and helped lead the program to a 218-107 record over seven seasons. During her time as an assistant, MC made five GSC Tournament appearances, four NCAA Regional berths, and earned its first-ever NCAA South II Regional Championship in 2023, advancing to the program’s first Super Regional.

As MC’s pitching coach, Streetman developed five All-GSC pitchers, most notably 2019 GSC Pitcher of the Year Cori Cooper, a two-time all-region selection. She also coached Camryn Bailey to an All-GSC season in 2024 and helped McCall Lee earn her third career All-GSC honor and a GSC Gold Glove. In total, Streetman helped develop five All-GSC catchers, including standout backstop Carly Crawford.

A former four-year starter at UAB (2011–14), Streetman remains one of the most decorated pitchers in Blazer history. She holds UAB career records for appearances (144), saves (13), and batting average against (.209), while tying the program record for wins (58). Her 2.18 career ERA ranks in the top five all-time, and she still holds the single-season ERA record (1.34 in 2011).

Following her playing career, she served two seasons as a volunteer pitching coach at UAB, helping the Blazers extend their streak to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

A native of Hueytown, Alabama, Streetman continues to elevate Mississippi College softball with a culture built on resilience, development, and championship-level expectations.
