Lauren Conway

RALEIGH, N.C. – Lauren Conway was elevated to Head Softball Coach at William Peace on Friday, May 24, 2024.


Conway was an Assistant Softball Coach at William Peace during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. She was responsible for the catchers under legendary Head Coach Charlie Dobbins, who retired after a 25-year coaching career.


“We are thrilled to have Lauren take the reins of the softball program,” said Claude Shields, the William Peace Athletic Director. “She was an exceptional leader as a student-athlete and has been instrumental on staff the last two years. She has a tremendous ability to connect with student-athletes and we are excited to see her push our program to new heights.”


A William Peace graduate, Conway was a softball standout from 2018 to 2022 before entering the coaching profession. Conway was a USA South Second Team All-East Division catcher in 2021 and 2022. She ranked third in the conference in batting average (.444) in 2022.


“I am honored, humbled and excited to step into the position of Head Softball Coach at William Peace University,” Conway said. “Claude Shields and [Associate Athletic Director] Danielle O’Leary have entrusted me with this opportunity, and I am grateful for their faith in me. I am blessed to guide and inspire our talented student-athletes on their journey to excellence, both in the game and in life, as we strive for success both on and off the field.”


A Winterville, N.C., native, Conway graduated from William Peace with a Sport and Fitness Studies Degree and a minor in Sports Management in 2022.
