Kelsey Hodgson Hogan

Kelsey Hodgson is entering her eighth year in the 2024 season as a part of the Lady Hawks’ softball coaching staff and fifth year as head coach. She started as a graduate assistant in the 2016- 17 season and graduated in May of 2018 with her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management. She spent two seasons as an assistant coach.


As a student- athlete, Kelsey was a third baseman for the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina where she graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She was named to the 2011 SoCon All-Freshman team, the 2013 SoCon All-Conference team, the 2014 CAA All-Conference team, and selected as the 2014 CofC Offensive Player of the Year. In her career, she ranks in the top ten in 11 offensive categories, including first in homeruns (42), fifth in doubles (37), third in RBIs (135), second in extra base hits (87), and third in slugging percentage (.589). She was also named to the CofC Honor Roll all eight semesters.


After graduation, she spent one season as an assistant coach for the East Cobb Bullets 18u Gold team. They concluded the season with a third place finish at the Triple Crown National Championship and were runners-up in the USA Junior Olympic Cup.


A native of Woodstock, Georgia, Kelsey attended Etowah High School. As a member of the East Cobb Bullets, her team won the 2010 ASA 18u Gold National Championship. Her Dad played football at Georgia Tech (1979-81) and her brother played football at Mars Hill College (2007-11).

Taylor Hutto

Taylor Hutto heading into her third year in the 2023 season on the Shorter University softball staff as the program’s pitching coach. Hutto joined the program in January of 2021.


Taylor graduated from Judson College in 2020 as a double major in Psychology and Business. While at Judson, Taylor pitched and played first base, leading the team offensively in batting average and home runs and defensively in wins and strikeouts all three years. Taylor posted a career batting average of .385, a career ERA of 2.85, and recorded 199 strikeouts in 177 innings pitched. In 2019, Taylor was named an USCAA All-American, finished fourth for the UCSAA Player of the Year Award, and helped lead Judson to the Small College World Series. When Covid-19 hit in 2020, Taylor was leading the USCAA in both hits and home runs and also strikeouts pitching. Prior to attending Judson College, Taylor went to Central Alabama Community College for one year.


Originally from Alexander City, AL, Taylor attended Benjamin Russell High School. She has a Masters of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of North Alabama.
