1 DAY TOURNAMENT BASEBALL RULES

REVISED 01/01/2012

  • Divisions are based upon player’s ages as of year 2012 league age.
  • 2 games Guaranteed.
  • There will be a registration/information desk located next to the snack bar. There will also be brackets/schedules posted there.
  • Please no ice chest or outside food, this is our fundraiser and we appreciate patronage at our snack bar. NO GRILLS ALLOWED.
  • All teams are required to clean out dugouts of all trash prior to leaving after the game.
  • The tournament director reserves the right to reschedule the TOURNAMENT within 45 days in case of rain. If this is not possible, the following rain-out policy will take place: No games = 100% refund, 1 game = 50% refund, 2 games played = no refund.
  • Every effort will be made to complete the tournament. In the event of rain or darkness, the TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR reserves the right to shorten games or modify schedules in order to finish tournament.
  • Each team needs to check in 1 hour before 1st game.

  • Only players listed on the roster are eligible to compete in the tournament. Players may only play on one team in this tournament. Rosters are frozen after 1st game. No players can be added. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Rubber cleats required for (6u-10u) and metal cleats for (11u and up). Coin flip to determine Home and Visitors for all pool games. The higher seeded team is Home team in bracket play.
  • Ties count in pool play
  • Seeding will be done by best record. In the case of a tie we will use the following: 1. Head to Head 2. Runs Allowed 3. Most Runs Scored 4. Coin Flip.
  • Due to the number of games each day, no time is permitted for “infield” warm up. Please make sure your players warm up prior to the scheduled games on the respective sides.
  • LENGTH OF GAMES: 
  • If the DROP DEAD time comes into play and the inning is incomplete, the   score will revert back to the last completed inning.
  •      CHAMPIONSHIP GAME NO TIME LIMIT
  •  A new inning begins when the 3rd out is made in the previous inning. The new inning does not begin when the defense takes the field.
  • If a game is called due to darkness, regardless which team is winning or at bat( umpires judgment ) score will revert back to last completed inning.  
  • Scorebooks will be provided at the registration/information desk. Home team is responsible for keeping score and returning scorebook to the snack bar. The pitching log must be signed by the head umpire at the conclusion of the game, before being turned in. Neither team will be allowed to take the field for their next game, if the scorebook and pitching log are not turned in.
  • PITCHING RULES: 
  • 7u & 8u= 3 innings max. per game and 6 innings max. per day.
  • 9u thru 12u= 4 innings max. per game and 8 innings max. per day.
  • 13u thru 16u= 5 innings max. per game and 10 innings max. per day                               
  • Upon a second trip to the pitchers mound in the same inning, the pitcher must be removed. For all divisions.
  • Please have line-ups given to scorekeeper at least 15 minutes prior to the game.
  • Prior to each game umpire will meet with managers & coaches of both teams at home plate. Line-ups should be ready at that time to be exchanged.
  • A maximum of 9 defensive players in the field and minimum of 8 required to play. If only playing with 8 every time the 9th batter is up it is an OUT.
  • All rostered players may bat. Managers may elect to bat 9 players or entire roster.
  • Teams may run for the catcher or pitcher at any time with a player on the bench, if batting 9 players. If all are batting teams must use their last out.
  • Once line-up is submitted, the number of batters may not change. Players not in the original line-up may only enter once, and once removed can no longer re-enter the batting order. Offensive players that were in the original line-up and removed for substitution must re-enter line-up in the original spot they were removed from and may not be removed again. All substitutions must be made through the umpire, including pitching changes. The umpire will work closely with the official scorekeeper.
  • If a player is injured or sick and no substitution is available, the player will be called out the next time he/she is up in the batting order. One time only.
  • Must slide rule is in effect for all age groups. Safety of the players is a priority. A runner must slide or attempt to avoid contact with another player. Any player that attempts to hurt or injure another player will be called out. Including to but not limited to dropping his/her shoulder. If the umpire fills the contact was malicious the offending player will be ejected from the game.
  • FORFEITS:  If a team fails to show up for a scheduled game, that team will be removed from the tournament with NO REFUND of tournament fees. In the case a team forfeits the score will be recorded as follows:
    • 6u-10u      (6-0)
    • 11u-16u     (7-0)
  • MERCY RULE: 10 run mercy rule after 5 complete innings. (11u-16u)

                                  15 run mercy rule after 4 complete innings. (11u-16u)
                                  10 run mercy rule after 4 complete innings. (6u-10u)
                                  15 run mercy rule after 3 complete innings. (6u-10u)


  • PROTEST: If a protest is filed a $100 protest fee must be paid at that time. This is to eliminate false protest to stall games. If protest is granted in your favor the fee will be returned. The game will be stopped at that point and ruled upon by tournament officials.
  • All mangers are responsible for their fans. It will be their responsibility to keep the fans in line. If a parent or spectator is causing a distraction to the game or umpire, the manager will be warned and if repeated the manager will be ejected from the game. In the event a manager, coach, or player is thrown out of the game he will be asked to leave the baseball compound. He will have 5 minutes to do so if he does not cooperate his team will forfeit that game at that time.
  • If a player is ejected from the game, an out must be recorded every time his/her spot is reached in the line-up, if no substitute is available to replace player (i.e. if you bat complete line-up, no substitute would be available).

****6u****

  •  Games are 5 innings or 1:30 DROP DEAD.  Teams may score 5 runs max. except the 5th inning which is unlimited.
  •   A 2 foot vertical line will be drawn halfway between each base to determine the placement of the runner.
  • A batted ball becomes dead when an infielder within side of the baselines or at a base and has possession of the ball and holds the ball over their head.
  • A level 5 baseball will be used. 
  • All players must bat. Team can field only 10 kids max. (6 infielders and 4 outfielders).  Outfielders must be stationed on the outfield grass and not on the infield dirt. Team can start with 8 players but every time the 9th batter comes up it's an OUT. 1 player must be a catcher.
  • No bunting is allowed. If the batter bunts the ball, the ball is dead and counted as a pitch. Runners may not advance.
  •  A 10 foot arch will be inscribed in front of home plate. A batted ball that is hit and does not travel beyond this mark will be considered a foul strike.
  • If a runner leaves the base to early, the play is dead runner is OUT and batter will be given 1 pitch. 
  • MERCY RULE: 10 run lead after 4 innings. 31/2 innings for the Home team. Mercy rule will stay in effect for the remainder of the game.

 MACHINE PITCH

  • Louisville Slugger UPM 45 Pitching Machine (Machine Settings Power Lever=2, Micro Adjust=3, Release Block=3)  
  • If a batted ball strikes the coach feeding the machine, the ball is dead, the pitch counts as a strike and NO runners may advance.   
  • If a batted ball strikes the pitching machine and remains in fair territory, the ball is in play.  
  • If the batted ball strikes the pitching machine and goes into foul territory, the ball is dead, the batter is awarded 1st base and the runners advance one base. 
  • The coach feeding the machine shall not give coaching instructions to the batter or runners. They may not in any way interfere with the defensive player.  
  • A batter will receive 6 pitches max. If the batter does not hit the ball fair on the 6th pitch the batter is OUT. Missed swings are counted as strikes, as are foul tips and foul balls.
COACH PITCH
  •  Pitching distance is 35 feet (Coach Pitch). 
  • Coaches or managers shall pitch from a pitching plate 35 feet from the point of home plate. The coach will be allowed to pitch on one knee, but their front foot must be in contact with the pitching rubber and the knee on the ground will be behind the pitching rubber. The player fielding the pitcher’s position shall take the position always to the rear of the pitching rubber and on the right or left side of the pitcher/coach.  
  • If a batted ball hits the coach the ball is DEAD. The pitch counts and the runners cannot advance. The coach pitcher MUST make an effort to get off the field and avoid any contact with the players. Once the batter hits the ball the pitcher coach must RUN off the field and cannot coach well in the playing field.
